The Fallacy of Revolution

Too many socialists think that if we just wait long enough, if you just let things get bad enough, the working class will revolt and institute a glorious Marxist utopia.

Sorry, but it's not happening.

History has shown time and time again that the working class is willing to take a boot to the face so long as they're getting enough bread and circuses. Every socialist "revolution" that ever occurred has been a total failure. They've all been crushed, fell apart internally, or subsumed into the global hivemind.

And it's only going to get worse. Technological advances like drones, autonomous weaponry and smart bombs mean that any future "conflicts" are going to be so one-sided that it'd be more better to call them curb-stomps. They have armies, navies and tanks. What do we have?

Do you know why socialist "revolution" is impossible? Because the people who own all that stuff and worked hard for it don't want to give it away for free. This is how it's always been. Unless they're given something equally valuable in return, they will use their connections to maintain power at all costs. The only way we can institute a more just and fair economic order isn't through revolution or evolution, but voluntary compromise.

If you want anything to change, you'd better get the rich on board. The 1% and 99% both have a common enemy-  a tyrannical, centralized state that unfairly taxes the rich and exploits the poor. We all worry about climate change, corruption and education. We all want cleaner streets and sidewalks.

This is the most tempting possibility for reform. Don't blame the 1% for why things are the way they are. Blame the system. It's time to #breakthesystem and make a deal with the devil. Give us your extra economic power. We will give you an equal amount of political power in return. To ensure this power is only used for the public benefit, all future profits and government pay will be based off of social well-being. The more policies you create and approve that make people happy, the more money you earn. It's that simple. You know that's what they want. They try to buy it through lobbying and kickbacks today, but such processes are inefficient. In their minds, they're contributing more to society in the form of high taxes, and they have much more to lose if it all goes wrong. The wealthy are scratching their heads and wondering why don't they deserve a bigger say?

The rich can keep their mansions, luxury automobiles and yachts. They can keep their high salaries and way of life. None of these things matter so long as the wealth of the earth- our land, factories, and mines- belong to and are used for the benefit of the people.

Stop missing the forest for the trees. The rich hate politics just as much as the poor do. Wealth is a burden for them, believe it or not. They always have to look over their shoulders, always need to question whether a potential friend is legitimate or not. The Global Assembly offers them a new way forward. They can keep the lifestyle they love while leaving behind a positive legacy for the rest of us. Most rich people aren't evil. If they had a way to eliminate poverty, war and crime without personally giving anything up, they would.

They can be the heroes of the world. Or they can remain the villains. Which would you choose?
